With a foundation in hip-hop and a repertoire with no boundaries, DJ Equal combines an open minded love for music with word class DJing ability. A Taste-NYC co-founder and internationally touring DJ, Equal relocated from hometown Asheville, North Carolina to New York City in 2004 at age 19, and has emerged as one of the premier DJ’s in NYC nightlife. Moving tirelessly between downtown NYC’s cutting edge music and arts scene and the West Side’s velvet rope dance club circuit has helped Equal develop his eclectic style. A lifetime drummer(now touring with Samuel, Columbia Records), Equal’s greatest inspiration is his family of musicians. From day one, Equal has been surrounded by music of all kinds. This has allowed him to develop a style that can accommodate any crowd anywhere in the world with grace and ease.

Currently Equal can be found spinning weekly in NYC’s hottest spots, as well as playing club dates and festivals all over the world. From Cabo to Sydney, LA to Iceland, Equal has headlined club tours, and shared the stage with artists such as Solange, N.E.R.D, Toubab Krewe, Bag Raiders, Miami Horror, Kevin Rudolf, A-Trak and The Rapture.
